Legs draws its inspiration from an archive photo showing Henry Morton Stanley being served tea by a child. While the white pith helmet unambiguously refers back to the country’s colonial history, the new scene features interaction between two Congolese protagonists. The former power relationship is now taking place in the present day, no longer between colonisers and the colonised, but within Congolese society.
