The painting depicts a coronavirus crisis-struck family. The father has no work (his hands are tied) and the cooking pot is empty. But life and love - the sprouting branch, the allegory of the apple, the mother’s protective hand on her child – will win the day. Rough diamonds seem to be spilling out of the bottle of hand sanitizer in the foreground. The sanitizer is a symbol of purification that Gaël extends to the mind. For the residents of poor neighbourhoods, the ability to empty their minds of the stress caused by their social circumstances is as valuable as an uncut diamond.
