Through the symbolism of baptism, Maski depicts the moment when humans become aware of their condition: “When you are poor and you grasp the reality of your world, it is like a baptism. Feet in the water is one of the baptism rituals in some churches in Kinshasa. The white dove is also a religious symbol.”
