Born in Kinshasa (DRC) in 1999. He lives in Kinshasa.

Emmanuel Ngule Mputu got himself noticed at the age of 19, with a striking self-portrait entitled Futur obscur. A paradoxical title, given that his path seems to have been marked out for a long time, so long, in fact, that he cannot remember exactly when he decided to become an artist.

His father died, and he is the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters. This gifted artist did not have the means to study art. He started to earn a living at the age of 17 by doing portraits on request. He tried his hand at painting during the same year, but without any joy. So Ngule Freeman picked up his pens, black and coloured graphite pencils, and charcoal again.

Since 2021, his work has focused on Congolese society. He depicts the wide variety of feelings and ways of life of young people in Kinshasa: addiction, jealousy, their search for an identity, etc. He also explores his own personal history and produces portraits of leading Congolese people. With the work Freeman he added the biros to his range of techniques.

What direction will his career take? The world of hyperrealism is vast, and his talent allows him a multitude of possibilities. One thing is certain: Ngule Freeman’s ambition is to write an African chapter in hyperrealism and, in so doing, put his name on the list of masters of the genre.
