The Silhouettes effacées (anonymous silhouettes) series is a central plank of Tsimba’s work. The busts tend to be made from cartridge cases collected in conflict zones. They pay tribute to the anonymous victims of gunfire, by recreating their bodies and bringing them back to life. The busts tend to depict women, who are often pregnant. The depiction of pregnant women conveys a message of hope, as Tsimba tells us that despite everything, “life always prevails.”
