FRANCIS MAMPUYA

Un ange déchu (2018)

FRANCIS MAMPUYA

Acrylic on canvas
70 x 60 cm
Available

The angel in this painting is eagerly awaited like a guardian angel, generating great hope. The military garb and badge show that he is a MONUSCO soldier (United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo), supposed to protect the population in the east of the country, devastated by clashes between militias and abuse of the civilian population. The title of Fallen angel expresses the sense of disappointment caused by what is experienced by the Congolese as a glaring failure.
