From 4 July, the gallery is presenting a new group exhibition featuring six Congolese artists whose techniques and media stand out for their originality and boldness.

Catheris Mondombo paints and sews together used tarpaulins to evoke precariousness and the act of repair. Lianza unravels rice sacks painted in oil, symbolising the fragility of existence. Eli Made uses bleach on black fabric to create a subtle work centred on psychology. Gaël Maski reassembles his photographs into kaleidoscopic and surrealist photomontages. Théo Mwamba paints on tyres and inner tubes, recalling the forced collection of latex during the era of the Belgian Congo. Finally, Stanis Mbwanga creates pop-art portraits on plates, raising the profile of contemporary ceramics within Congolese art.
