1 MILLION AND COUNTING: DISPLACED BY CONFLICT IN NORTH KIVUHugh Kinsella Cunningham

Angalia Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition of photographs by Hugh Kinsella Cunningham, organised by Première Urgence Internationale.
The eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo is suffering one of the most complex and prolonged crises in the world, combining armed conflict – and its social and economic consequences – with natural disasters and epidemics. Millions of people have lost their lives due to conflict in the last thirty years. In the province of North Kivu, fighting between the M23 armed group and government forces has forced more than a million civilians to take refuge in makeshift camps, forced to move constantly as the front line changes. At the end of 2023, Hugh Kinsella Cunningham covered the flight of displaced people for Première Urgence Internationale.
