Théo Mwamba juxtaposes a majestically depicted King Leopold II and bloodcurdling archive photos bearing witness to the corporal punishment perpetrated against the Congolese people during his reign, particularly when being forced to collect rubber. The rubber pattern on his clothing means that the King is depicted cloaked in his crime.
