Amani Bodo took note of the fad for Congolese sapeurs (dandies) in Europe and decided to portray international stars in the Congolese style, albeit with sobriety, in a successful series entitled "Tous Sapeurs !" (Everyone’s a sapeur!). Drawing on the imagery of the great classical tradition of full-length portraits, he depicts Messi le roi Léo (King Leo Messi) in a pose similar to that of a great king.
