Shown as part of an exhibition on the topic of power (by Kloser Contemporary Art), this Amani Bodo work shows the artist painting a self-portrait, in a position reminiscent of the famous Norman Rockwell Triple Self-Portrait. Amani Bodo invites us to reflect on the power of the artist, whereas Rockwell offered us a self-reflection on the subject of self-portraiture. Instead of his face, he is depicting a deep bright blue brain, the source of ideas and representation, the symbol of freedom of thought, while a hand seeks in vain to silence him.
